SMU Arts Festival 2006
I am back from busy period of SMU Arts Festival. Feeling both sad and happy at the same time. Sad that all the time spent together with friends in preparing for the Performance and happy coz I will have all the free time in the world and for not having to cab home every night. Have been going home past 12am in the last few days. Practice was from 7pm till 12am. Whopping 5 hours every day.I was glad trying something different. We did STOMP type of performance. Some of you might have heard of STOMP. It is a musical performance using metal bins, plates, etc to create music. What we did exactly is kitchen musical. It involves cooking, chopping, eating and etc. It was damn cool. Imagine all the sound from the spatulas, knive, chopping board, spoon, fork, chopsticks and whole lot more. Its not something like normal performance. It is extraordinary. Haha. We got some rhythm guy called who used to do National Day performance to come down and teach us. Not easy at all. So it was a big "phiew" that everything is over. But the sound still comes back to my mind some time. I was given the little melamine sauce bowl. Small but loud.
Ours is only one of the section of the whole performance. We also did some Stand-up, stickman and funny sketch. There is this guy who did a damn funny sketch (commedy) and sounded better than Russell Peiter. Then there is a gian stickman. It is like the huge version of pinnochio doll in which we have to control its body parts. Plus 15 minutes of stand up commedy.
We were damn scared that there will be no one watching, coz the opening day was empty and there are more crew and performers rather than audience. But we were shocked to find so many crowd at the stand. It was full house!!! If not all our effort would have gone to waste. Spent so many days of practicing!
Our event was called The BEginning. Then there was other event such as Impromptu, The fourth World, Short and Sour, etc. All of them are damn nice. Contemporary show. Even our toilet were docorated with Arts theme. There is one toilet which is decorated like a jungle. When you go in, you feel like you are in a jungle. Damn nice. But uncomfartable too coz if people "dirtied" the floor you can't even see as it is dark in colour. Then another toilet is designed with a lot of sheeps. You can see all the sheep while you are doing your "business" lah. So hard to concentrate. Haha. The worst is the toilet with many eyes stuck on the wall. As if you have so many people watching you.
But finally everything is over. Looking forward for next week. May be signing up for Business School Election or maybe Student Association. Their nomination period starts next week. Hope I can get some support.

Hectic Weeeekkk
These few weeks have been hectic for me. Ever since school started, everyday is a mad rush for me. Bidding for classes, buying and selling books, CCAs, presentation, etc. Crazy week. I am still in week 3 of my Term yet I have been having presentation non-stop. This week was Tech & World Change (TWC) presentation, next week is Management of People at Work (MPW) and next2 week is Marketing.For TWC and marketing, presentation itself is 50% of the total grades. Luckily I have sort of a strong group for both of them. TWC yesterday was a blast. Everybody was great. We had videos, nice slideshow, slick content and really spoil the market. =p
The sad thing is that I don't even have time to go on MSN. Blah. When all the "turtles" started coming out in front of everyone's name, I don't even know. And things won't get better next week also. I will be having regular training everyday for SMU Arts Festival. Crazy thing. Training almost every night. But it was interesting as we will be doing Kitchen Musical. We will be using knife chopping sound, pail, glass, plates, metal spoon, to creat a 10 minutes long musical. We will also be cooking some REAL food. Phiew so gotta practice hard.
Anyway gtg for Mrketing lesson already. Ciao!

New term, New goals, New problems
SMU is becoming very very crowded due to the new intake of 1300 freshmen. This is crazy and totally overwhelming. Keep bumping into people at every corner of the school. This is bad. Even the classes are packed. It is a sign that I am gonna have a hard time this Semester. It was buzzing with noise almost everywhere. It is just like a fish market. It is a good sign tht people are flicking to SMU. But it is definitely gonna decrease the comfort level of current student. Have to wait longer for lift, food, toilet, gym, etc. Irritating.More people also means more foreign student. Arrgghh. This is bad. I could see all types of people from different nationalities during lunch today. The good thing is that there are 60 Indonesian Freshmen. The bad thing is when these foreigners are in a world of their own and refused to socialize.
Started the term on the wrong foot. How the hell did I bid for Political Philosophy. It is the most crap subject ever for me. I could not understand a single thing the Professor is talking about. He is a damn good Prof, but when started talking about Alexander the great, Ptah and old Testament, he started to sound Greek to me. I thought Political Philosophy class will be talking about current politics situation, but in the end it becomes like history. I wonder why people become philosopher. The main reason that I could think of is that they are born to be one. There is no way that they could develop interest in it. Imagine having to listen to the “does god exist argument” non-stop. But there is a good quote that I got from the class. “Since everyone say God is Omni-potent or almighty, Can god build a stone so heavy that he can’t carry? If he can’t create it then he is not almighty. But if he can create it but he can’t carry it, then he is also not almighty. Both ways point to god not being almighty” Anyway guys don’t be offended by this. This was brought up during philosophy. Imagine having to endure this kind of philosophical argument. Tough life. I’d rather be in Business. =p
This Semester I must really prioritize and of course school is number 1. I need to pick up my lousy grades and kick my own ass up. No more crazy and whacky CCAs. I just need my As. Trying to get As for all subject. So at least can pick up my mark to a decent level. Anyway Vegustian is on local exchange to SMU. Haven’t got the chance to ask him how he found SMU, especially after attending his first 2 lessons. So my plan for this sem is to mug, mug, and mug. Fullstop.
And everything is damn slow nowadays. Even the school network is becoming very laggy. Twice as slow compared to usual speed. Slowpoke.

SMU Convocation 2006
Finally, SMU Convocation 2006 was held on last Saturday (19th of August 2006) at Suntec City Ballroom 1, 2, 3. It is a formal welcoming ceremony for new SMU students. And it marks the end of the organizing committee's hardwork and of course my hardwork too. The Convocation video for SMU beat especially took me more than a month to edit. But in the end it turns really great. It's nice to learn that people like it. If not my head will roll. I was hiding in 1 corner of the ballroom hoping that the video turns out great. In fact I have never see a performance such as SMU Beat in which the video interacts with the performers. Great exciting stuff.I was mostly there to bring my OG and make sure everything was alright. Ended up wearing an oversized shirt with a dark blue shade instead of the light blue shade. First of all, someone borrowed my shirt and never return, so ended up with my oversized shirt. And secondly I really slim down alot which is not a very good news given I am already so thin. So now planning to eat up. Interestingly also, majority of the peopl was wearing lights shade of blue shirts, leaving me and a few of other people wearing the darker shade of blue shirts. Then they "blamed" us for being so extra by wearing such a dark coloured shirt when initially they said any shade of blue is alright.
Once again SMU Beat performance was rocked on! Best performance ever in SMU history. Followed by Classical Trio, Jazz trio and BE Band rocking the house. The Salsa dance was hot too. Overall the performance was alot better than last year. There is also award for best Freshmen and Best Facilitator. Didn't get anything though. Disappointing.
It ended with alot of photo taking session and going round to chat everyone up. Haha. Exciting!

So many things...
I am damn dead worried. My mom said my dad is sick. She said it was just a flu. But still I am damn dead worried. I hope he get well soon. I don't like to hear it when any of my family members got sick.Anyway just had Sushi with Temmy, Peter and Jansen. It is such a worldly temptation. Ichiban Boshi is just so good. My favourite sushi destination. Reasonable price, but very good food. Glad that all those jokers come back from Indo. Can hang out with them more.
Got a lot of things for me this week. There is convocation rehearsal and chalet today. And the real convocation on Saturday plus chalet plus BBQ. Damn it. How to split myself to go for all those things. Arrgh. It is no good when all good things come together isn't it. Coz you can only choose the best.
There is this guy who borrowed my blue long sleeve shirt and haven't return until now. I suddenly remembered it because I need it for Convocation. I doubt he can return me on time. Convocation is tomorrow. Arrgh. Now I don't know what to wear already.
I finished the first draft of the SMU Pageant Video. Quite proud of it. I hope the feedback is good also. This is the second major editing project that I took up after Convocation video. Hmm. I still couldn't believe that now I am a video editing geek. Haha.
I still have a bigger goal ahead of me. Gain some weight, clear up my pimple, do some real business and jack up my grades. Have been postponing all of those things for months. The long holiday doesn't get me started in anything. And now school is starting again. I hope it is going to be a good second year of my Uni life.
Life's so complicated when you have so many things on your hand. And so little time and limited energy to do it. My mom is coming to Singapore somemore. I know she can feed me real well and make me fat. But I hope school doesn't take all my time so that I could take her out. The lst time she was here for two months, I rarely went out with her. Damn. This time I should put her ahead of anything else. I rarely see her and this is the right time to make her happy.
